I am directed by His Excellency the Administrator to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 28th instant, and to inform you that His Excellency will be satisfied if the collection of the Rate be carried on without further difficulties; in short, if the Revenue of the "Executive Government be not embarrassed - if the Rate collection be carried on without further measures or difficulties, His Excellency will be satisfied, but if any new check be reported, it will be the duty of the Acting Governor to take steps for securing that the functions of Government in this respect are properly administered and this he is prepared to do.
His Excellency desires therefore that this correspondence cease, and that you exercise such supervision over your Department as will conduce to the orderly working of Ordinance No.5 of 1863.
